Looks like we all got one from our Dads! Mine is a bit more rusty. I just let it sit for about 3 hours in vinegar and gave it a decent scrub with steel wool. I put the parts back in the vinegar for the night, tomorrow I'll finish off all the rust, dry and paint! Can't wait to show him what I've done to it. If this one turns our good he gave me one that has got to be about 4x the size, I'll tackle that one next.

Thanks for sharing. I just received the one I won on eBay for $28.62 that was stuck and just needs the "C-clip" that is missing. Seems like an easy fix and neat to watch the same make and model one being restored.

My dad just gave me one of these. Its red. I suspect these were made by craftsman. Its sitting in some water and vinegar for the next three days. Pretty rusty and the base has a crack in it. I dont have a welder so I'm just going to fill it with JB weld.

Where did you find replacement jaws? A few years back, I got this exact size and model of vice at an auction for $15 with some large "Crescentology" crescent wrenches and some old "Made in Japan" open ended wrenches. Believe it or not, that was FAR from the best lot I got there. I bought a lot with 2 _huge_ industrial, 24 bearing machinists tool cabinets from GM for $35 and when I went to pick them up, there was a like new 4" end mill and other random tools.😎
Too bad they got shutdown for fraud. What a good cash business to launder through though!

I have the same vise and looking to restore it. How did you handle the little washer that you had to remove from the screw? Did you use the same washer when you re-assembled it or did you replace it? When I removed the washer to remove the screw it deformed the washer quite a bit. Not sure how I'm going to get it back together! Thanks for a great video!

Great job but you shouldn't paint on top of the swivel mechanism...it will stick and not swivel smoothly

I just got the same one off eBay. Missing the “c” clip. Would the hardware store have this item?
Thanks for the excellent video!

How did the paint hold up? I have the exact same one and I'm looking to do the same with mine.
