Husqvarna Vitpilen 701 Ride Review

The Blue Marble Rider rides and reviews Husqvarna's Vitpilen 701. I first saw this bike a few months ago in a showroom after reading about its prototype in the motorcycle media two years ago. Husqvarna tout it as a minimalist styled motorcycle with exceptional performance and reduced to the bare essence of what a motorcycle should be. Is it?

Whether riding enduro or street, The Blue Marble Rider will regularly bring you more than just the cliched “What’s up?” By taking you on a journey, reviewing a product, bike, or even a movie, I’ll try to combine my wit with my enjoyment of photography to bring you a high quality product that I hope conveys the essence of riding with some nuggets of humour, new experiences and, at times, maybe, a hard-learned pearl of wisdom. I ask nothing of you, but the chance to share experiences. Thanks for reading. Please subscribe, share, like and chuckle where appropriate.

scored mine in DE for approx. £5, 600 - converted from euros like three weeks ago, that's including a discount of about 1200 pounds for my old Suzuki. Going by the initial list price, it would have scared me off... but I was following it for a while, only then realized the original list price.
as you said, it such a smart "little" bike that gives you the feeling of actually being one with the bike, not being tucked away behind a big handlebar and *somehow* controlling the movements. you are the one that dictates the movement, the bike just follows spot on. I never had so much trust in the capabilities of a bike before, period.
the big single... it's a pleasure. pure, raw, well-behaved but up for any shenanigans you wanna put on it (and maaan, it does love to blip and braaap in idle / "push operation" ... hope that's somehow the right translation for when you just release the gas but don't pull the clutch lever). I heard one with the Akra slip-on but don't really see the need to do something about it...
and the quick-shifter is a joy, overtaking with such ease and speed in gear changes (besides from irregular issue when going from fifth to sixth, but as far as I know that 's a know topic and you can just get used to it). be aware there was a QA issue with a part of it that had to be replaced on the bikes from 2018 at least, but I think they got it well sorted out now. Mine had it as it was a test ride bike from late 2018, but Husqvarna / the dealer took care without any hussle and for free.
the breaks are beastly, I still find myself sometimes diving down even when it's not needed - as the grip so early and progressively!
the looks... don't need to talk about them, do I? it's a beauty, it's both fancy but also pure minimalism. it's a rider's bike, it proves it to the rider itself while being on it anyhow but also points it out bravely to anyone looking at you.
and one more thing to add to my overall appreciation of your review: thanks for not bashing the tachometer :D yeeeah it's not the best but seriously, I don't know why all the other test drivers / vloggers make such a fuzz about it... never failed me until now, with sun from front or behind I still always can read it clearly (and btw, it's a bike to feel and you will learn to know what speed your going, if you're within the perfect range of the rev's etc etc - so stop wasting your time staring down on that cute little display :D)

Oh god, I really want one of these over my current one. Looks so damn good and was so nice to ride on the testride I had.

Excellent review. Bring out how it feels to ride rather than the usual spec sheet musings. Well done!! Subbed.

Having test rode this bike in the UK, as of June 2019, the purchase price is (UK) £6, 999 on the road.

Wow, this is definitely one of the most useful ride reviews of this motorcycle I have seen on YouTube so far - and utterly sympathetic aswell. Thank you for that and my highest appreciation! --> Liked and subbed - greetings from Germany :)

So which would you buy between the 790 or the Vitpilen?

One of the stupidest looking motorcycles ever. It looks like the rear of it either fell off or was chopped off. I wouldn't own one even if one was gave to me. I'd get rid of the ugly thing quick!
