How my megaesophagus dogs get into their bailey chairs || #Shorts
Показать описание
Four out of five of our megaesophagus dogs eat in a bailey chair. So let's see how they get into them!
What IS megaesophagus? I'm glad you asked! Megeasophagus is essentially what it sounds like. Their esophagus is 'mega'. With the increase in size comes other issues, like a lack of motility and muscle tone, which means that the esophagus can't move food to the stomach. This leads to a dog regurgitating their food over and over again, and without help, most ME dogs die of aspiration complications or starve to death. Four of our megaE dogs, as well as most dogs with ME eat in a bailey chair, which holds the upright during and after meal time for a period of time. For my boys, that's thirty minutes each meal.
