John Deere 2840 Dyno Run

The 2840 Turbo finally gets some fuel, it makes a big difference! We were shooting for 100- 105 HP, and probably will turn it down after the county fair Pull.

Wow!! At first I didn’t think it had a turbo. We have a 2840. True story we used to chop corn with it. Pulled a nh 782 with a 2 row head. In low low most of the time. Lol. Farmers understand low low.gear. Everyone else asks what low low. It would pull 4 16” plows also. Always wished it had a turbo on it. I was excited to watch your video. Keep up the good work.

Good morning sir, yeah that 2840 brings back lots of memories. We had one when I was growing up. I always carry a little 516 in 12 point wrench in my pocket. When I got on it I turned it up then always before my dad got on it. I had to turn it back down one day. I didn't get it. Turned back down and my dad got on it and he said what's happened to that tractor. That thing takes off like a rabbit with a beagle behind it. He had it on a two-row papec chopper so make a long story short. He said just leave it there will run it to it blows up. Believe it or not that tractor we got 12, 000 hours on and it was still running strong when we sold it. That's one of the best motors John Deere s ever made

We always liked our 2840's. They could do almost anything we needed them to do.

Yeah that 2840 and a 4020 or the two main tractors we had later on. We got a 986 international but that 2840 could keep up with a 4020 on a 418s plow

A little tuning and some artificial atmosphere went a long way on that little bugger, knocking at the door of doubling her ponies!
If’n my pockets weren’t so full of holes, I’d send this lazy Ol 4240 over and have y’all put a little more twist in her tail….
Perhaps it’s the powershift, but she doesn’t seem to have much more pep in her step than our venerable Ol 4020 to my think’n!
As for that tire, I wouldn’t rush into replacing it. I’m think’n she’s got a few more revolutions in her!
