Hi everyone!

I wanted to share some of my favorite assessments with you guys. The Beery VMI is an awesome standardized assessment that can be used with a wide age range (2-100 years). It gives us OTs an understanding of how someone is using their visual and motor skills together. This video will give you an idea on what it looks like and how to score it! I did not show you the entirety of every page of the booklets as this test is copyrighted. This video is for educational purposes for those of you who would like to learn more about how to utilize this assessment.

Hi everyone! At 3:52 when I'm breaking down the booklets, I made an error and said for the Motor Coordination is for 5 minutes or until ceiling. Please disregard the "ceiling" part. The motor coordination booklet is given 5 minutes with NO ceiling. My apologies for the error. I was thinking of the scoring process when I said that. The info on the post it I shared is correct in that you would provide 5 minutes to complete the booklet.

Thank you! I start my first Level II fieldwork next week in pediatrics and this was really helpful for me to review.

Good video! My only question is- for the MC section, on page 89 of my manual it does state “do not stop scoring after three consecutive failures.” So I’ve always continued on when administering.

They still need to place a check next to the item they think is correct on the VP subtest. They don't just point. The 3 minute timing starts where the arrow is (at item 7).

Just a heads up - the motor coordination subtest is 5 minutes. No ceiling.

It's actually in the manual to not show them the timer for the very reason you mentioned

My question is that my forms number up to 27 items, but in the manual, it says specifically to subtract the total number wrong from 30, rather than 27, because the first 3 items (given only to little ones) are assumed correct, making the total 30, rather than 27. It's a little confusing to do it that way, rather than the intuitive, counting the number correct. Another site said the highest possible score is 27. That threw me off. Are there different editions that do it differently?

Does anyone know if the visual test has a ceiling too? Or do you just add up all the ones they get correct after three minutes?

@OTREX If your child is age 5 and older do I have them start at page 3 or 4?

There is no ceiling on the Motor Coordination test. You can give credit for forms completed after 3 consecutive errors.

Hi could you give any advice on if there is a cheaper way to acquire the Manual and assessments for a single assessment or how to go about getting an assessment via the NHS? My son has ASD and is in year 1 but they said as he has less than a 2 year delay they won't give him any support. I'm keen to try and help him myself

I have always wondering how they really should do #24 on the MC.
