Survivors of clergy sexual abuse tell their stories

Survivors of sexual abuse by members of the Roman Catholic clergy in Pennsylvania tell their stories in this video created by the Office of Pennsylvania Attorney General. The AG's office recently released the results of a grand jury report investigating the sexual abuse of children by members of the Catholic clergy.

I think you're so courageous speaking out about this. Why should you hide, you've done nothing wrong. I understand that society finds it hard to hear our stories but people have been silent for years and this abuse continues to happen. I so respect each of you and thank you for speaking up.

So I am a practicing Catholic. And I have never been abused. But I just want to say that when this abuse happened and when they came out with their strategies to address it, I felt like they totally missed the mark. Granted some of the things they instituted were good, such as vetting people That are near our children, but they never got to the root cause of this!! And I’m not even saying I think priest should be married. That’s a different question. But they did not address the secrecy in the church. They did not address the corruption in the church, not fully recognizing their own inner issues. I’m still angry about that.
