I love the idea of LVL and LSL in construction. Just the thought of straight walls pleases my inner OCD 😁. Are any of these products available for exterior use? Possibly even ground contact? Using them for decks would be a massive improvement over conventional lumber.

He said 10-15% more than Douglas Fir studs, which are already about double the price of SYP. I got a quote last week for 20ft 2x6s -- Doug Fir $27, LSL $30.

I could see notching the joist with 1/4" gray iron but with the hangers they are using, they are less than 1/16". The tapers are taping the corners anyway. It sounds like he is trying to sell his way is better than the rest.

I thought LSL studs were at least 25% more expensive than regular 2X studs. Wayerhauser has a relatively new product called Framer Series lumber. Have you heard about Framer Series lumber or possibly used it on one of your projects? I'm hoping to break ground next spring on my new house. Really enjoy your videos.
