Almost everyone in America owns flannel or has flannel clothing. The best thing in the winter time is flannel sheets for your bed. They are so soft and very warm. 👍🏻

All Americans LOVE flannel. Flannel looks good, especially in plaid. It keeps you warm when it's cold. I even have flannel sheets to put on my bed in the Winter.

"Ope" is like "Oh my" & "Oops" smashed together

I have a friend from the UK living in the US. I gave him a list of American sayings to use during his trip back home with the proper intonations. When his family was getting ready to go out for dinner he quite naturally spoke out "all y'all fixin' to get some dinner?". That might even confuse a New Yorker. After they had a good laugh and it was translated, he tried some more phrases out on them.

As a fellow midwesterner, I love flannel shirts as well as flannel pajamas. They are heavily underrated.

Small wonder Brits would appreciate flannel. Flannel-lined pants / shirts are our best winter wear, it gets friggin' cold here.

I’m a female in Pittsburgh and I have about 10 flannel shirts, and 10 pairs of flannel PJ pants. It’s soft, light weight and warm. Perfect for fall and winter.

I'm from Michigan. We all own flannel in one form or another all our lives. I love my flannel sheets on my bed in Winter.! And red and black flannel shirts are the best color and pattern ever. It's typically considered an old fashioned Lumberjack pattern here and in Canada. It's also a Monty Python sketch. 😄

Dick Tracy is a character from Sunday comic strips dating back to 1931. He's a Police Detective. He had the world's first cellphone -- a two-way wrist radio back in 1946.

Another way to wear flannel plaid here is to get A jacket that the outside is Wool plaid and the inside is lined to with some fleece.

8:10 The Chicago Cubs (the team he was supporting) won the World Series in 2016. Before that, the last time they’d won was 1908. So they went over a century between wins.

Cheese curd is fresh cheese before it pressed, aged etc. comes in little cheese nuggets. You dip them in Beer, then breading and deep fry them...its amazing!

Plaid flannel shirts are everyday wear in Wisconsin. Cheese curds are little irregular lumps of cheese before being pressed into blocks. The kind that squeek when you bite into them are the freshest. Many like them deep-fried available in restaurants but I've never tried them. I'm afraid I'd like them too much. You can find fresh cheese curds in fist-size packages right next to the string cheese---long ropes of mozzarella. yum

Straight off a plane, here in the US, no one would realize you were English just by looking at you.
Until you start talking, that is.
Some people can live in a new area around different dialects/accents and absorb none of it. I had a professor who, like Laurence, moved from England to the US and his accent faded considerably. And the first English person I ever met never lost her accent despite all the years she lived in the states.

Flannel. Yes. I think I have 2 shirts, 2 pajama pants, and 1 pajama shirt, which is different from the other shirts. I have flannel sheets too, and those are too nice...love them.

I have flannel pajama pants, flannel pajama gowns, flannel shirts, and flannel sheets...and I live in a tropical climate. Love, love, love flannel. Did not know it was just an American thing.
