South Korean and Chinese diplomats to hold high-level strategic talks

South Korean and Chinese diplomats will hold high-level strategic discussions in Beijing today, the first time such dialogue has taken place in nearly 18 months.
South Korea's Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam , will meet his Chinese counterpart Zhang Yesui , to calm bilateral tensions and address issues of common concern.
Ministerial talks between the two countries had faced numerous delays... over China's opposition to Seoul's decision to deploy the U.S. THAAD missile defense system to counter North Korean threats.
Seoul and Beijing hope the meeting will lay the foundation of mutual trust, ahead of the meeting of Presidents Moon Jae-in and Xi Jinping, at the G20 summit in Germany next month.
