I remember having this DVD as a kid and being obsessed with the songs. There were special features that tried to teach you the dances and I was so dedicated to trying this one and Violet's.

Can I just give a massive shoutout to Deep Roy here? Because, not only did he play all the Oompa Loompas, he played them all separately. For example, see the shot at 2:10. There are, by my count, eighteen Oompa Loompas visible in that shot. That means that Deep Roy shot each one of their movements separately. He was filmed doing the same exact thing in different positions on the set AT LEAST EIGHTEEN DIFFERENT TIMES FOR THIS ONE SHOT! And that’s not even mentioning the wide shots in this scene where you can see far more, as well as the other Oompa Loompa songs where even more are seen.

In conclusion, Deep Roy deserved some sort of Oscar for this film. The amount of time, dedication and effort he put into playing the Oompa Loompas was absolutely incredible. This is an actor who enjoys his craft and wants to get it right so much that he was willing to film the choreography for each song countless times until he and Tim Burton were happy with it. Even if there was no specific category for what he did, they should have made some special award for him to recognise all the time and effort that went into this. I will forever admire Deep Roy for this.
