This charming village is recognized on the National Register of Historic Places as the Sag Harbor Village District. In the 19th century, it thrived as a major whaling and shipping hub before transforming into a summer retreat for the elite. Spanning Southampton and East Hampton, Sag Harbor boasts landmarks from its whaling days, including Long Island's first U.S. custom house. It was also the first port of entry in the newly formed United States, adding to its rich history.
