About Dr. BN Suresh
Dr. BN Suresh is a renowned aerospace engineer whose accomplishments and visionary contributions have left an indelible mark in space technology in launch vehicle design, aerospace navigation, control and actuation systems, vehicle electronics, and modelling and simulation.
During his career in the Indian Space Research Organisation, spanning around four decades, Dr Suresh was instrumental in shaping the space programme and guiding it from pivotal positions. He has commendably held the post of Director at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), the lead Centre of ISRO in launch vehicle development from 2003 to 2007. He was also the founding Director of the prestigious Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, established by ISRO.
With a postgraduate degree from IIT Chennai, He started his career in ISRO at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (then Space Science and Technology Centre) in 1969. Later, he earned his doctoral degree in Control Systems from Salford University, UK.
He has several awards and honours to his credit. Prominent among them are ‘Dr. Biren Roy Space Science Design Award’ from the Aeronautical Society of India in 1993, ‘The Agni Award’ for excellence in self-reliance from DRDO in 1999 and the Padma Shri in 2002. He has published over 45 technical papers in national and international symposiums, conferences and journals and guided more than 500 technical reports in launch vehicle design, mission, avionics and other areas.
About Dr. Purnendu Ghosh
Dr. Purnendu Ghosh is the Executive Director of the Birla Institute of Scientific Research, Jaipur. Before this, he was a Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. He has also held research positions at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich, Switzerland; University of Melbourne, Australia; National Research Centre for Biotechnology (GBF), Braunschweig, Germany.
He has been involved with the planning and execution of several teaching and research programs and has taken a lead role in augmenting bioprocess engineering and biotechnology activities in the country as a member of several task forces of S&T agencies in India. Prof Ghosh, a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), has been conferred the Distinguished Professorship award of the INAE. He is also the Founder President of the Biological Engineering Society and Founder Editor in chief of INAE's engineering journal published by Springer Nature.
Besides research publications, he has written several books and articles in different genres.
