Mali has a new interim leader five weeks after the military overthrew President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita.
Retired colonel and former Defence Minister Bah Ndaw is promising to hand over power in 18 months, when national elections are planned.
But its West African neighbours say sanctions will not be lifted until a civilian prime minister is named.
Al Jazeera's Nicolas Haque reports.
