Role of Policy and Science in California Forestry

The California State Board of Forestry was established in 1885, the first such body in the nation. Since 1914, the University primarily through Berkeley’s forestry faculty has provided the scientific and research foundation for the Board’s regulatory, forest management and fire protection responsibilities. How can this alignment be strengthened to better address the forestry challenges California faces looking ahead?
