Wow, this is incredible. Layering the various photos to get the high resolution was mesmerizing, thanks for the great video!

For the idiots doubting, last zoom was from Lunar Orbiter satellite. It's not possible to zoom from earth to see such small objects. It's too far.

Who would have thought that as our technology increased 1000 fold from 50 years ago, the population would get so stupid that they couldn't imagine our accomplishments.

When I was a kid this was my dream and was obsessed with being an astronaut. I was glued to the tv whenever I had the chance during these missions and read every book I could get my hands on. Great and exciting times then.

Fun thing to do: compare the shape of the footprints and tracks from this video (LRO) to the shape of the footprints and tracks that can be seen from the Apollo 17 liftoff video, and they are exactly the same.

If NASA wanted to debunk conspiracy theories that they never landed on the moon, why haven't they just pointed one of their space telescopes at the moon and taken photos up close of the landing sites? 🤔

For a moment I thought "I might be able to see this with the 12" dobs I ordered yesterday" LMFAO not a chance

How did you get closer than 0.5m per pixel?

Why are there no astronaut footprints from the moon buggy final parking spot to the challenger descent stage?

FYI… the high resolution of the landing site and the tracks were taken by the lunar reconnaissance orbiter…

the moon is 2k miles wide roughly, crazy perspective this is. Moon is a lot bigger than people realize, 2k miles is a lot more than people realize.

You need a telescope the size of earth to see that close 😅.

I only wish we could have got much closer, as close as to an individual footprint in the regolith itself. Here's to days to come I hope.

"As we leave the Moon at Taurus Littrow, we leave as we came and God willing we shall return. With peace and hope for all mankind. Godspeed the crew of Apollo 17." - Gene Cernan, the 11th and last man on the Moon to date.
