I truly appreciate growing up in the 70s and 80s. Didn't realize how much I took it for granted until I have met or have seen younger people hearing the classics for the first time.

Lead singer Gene Simmons made Oprah blush in an interview. Known for his tongue she referenced a book that made comment about his tongue. When she asked him how long his tongue is, he answered with a smile and said long enough to make me your closest friend. I almost fell out of the chair laughing

Original lineup (the only one that matters) was: Paul Stanley (the Star Child) rhythm guitar/vocals, Gene Simmons (the Demon) bass guitar/ vocals, Ace Frehley (the Spaceman) lead guitar, & Peter Criss (the Catman) drums. They were my first concert in 1975 at the Fabulous Forum in L.A. (I was 8 years old).

There was a time in the 70s when nobody knew what KISS looked like without makeup. When they went out in public, they would cover their faces with a scarf or something. They would have done well during COVID. I remember it used to drive me crazy not knowing what they looked like. Finally, in the 80s they washed off the makeup and revealed themselves to the public.

“Detroit Rock City” is another banger from them. Gene Simmons family had a reality show on for a few years called “Gene Simmons: Family Jewels” starring him, his model wife, and two young adult children, Nick and Sophie. Was an interesting insight into his managing his business empire, managing his relationship and reputation, and being a Father.

Gene Simmons (The Demon, the tongue) has said in many interviews that KISS was all about delivering a show that they wanted to see. The Pyrotechnics, the glam, the energy! This is the kind of show that they wanted to be in the audience for. Furthermore, who else could write and perform the lyric, "You pull the trigger of my Love Gun"!

This was such a big hit back in the day! They always had their make-up on back then and were never seen without it for the longest time! They also were known for the biggest stage shows!

That was the 70's personified, the range of rock n roll acts was crazy and I enjoyed the HELL out of it!! 45 years ago this month I saw KISS for the first time.

KISS was the iconic party band. So over-the-top and pure FUN. Man, I miss those days….

Kiss are probably one of the most unique rock groups ever. You might also want to check out: "Hard Luck Woman", "I Was Made for Loving You" and "Beth". Perfect rock music!

This song was our Rock and Roll anthem for the 70's. Kiss were average musicians but their stage shows were over the top! I've seen them live a half dozen times over the years, always an experience!
