This year, instead of presents, we decided to hire a professional organizer to help us get rid of things and start the new year off on the right foot. We've even limited our budget for other people in order to prioritize our household for 1 year and pay for this. I've even asked my family if they wanted to forgo gifts for me and my husband and help to pay for our endeavor. It's a start.

Hubby and I have decided to have no presents this year. We are minimalists and really dont need anything. Our kids are grown up and spending it with their partners families. I've done years of hosting, cooking and present buying. This year is going to be amazing, pj's all day and a TV dinner, no Christmas shopping stress. I might even stay in bed all day watching you tube. Total bliss.😊

My mom loves puzzles so I did an advent calendar for her where my family put together a 1, 000 piece puzzle, then we divided it into 25 sections and put the pieces into little bags with numbered tags. Every day she puts together a section and adds it to the larger puzzle. She’s really enjoying it. I had seen one advertised but it was too expensive, so I diy’d it.

I am a cricket, but this year has been super simple because of life events. The funny thing that I wanted to share is that I carefully wrap several paper crafts that my kids made at very young ages. Think paper plates, traced hand prints on poster board with glitter, and macaroni noodles. It has been the utter horror of my kids when they see them on my tree. To explain their extreme disdain for these adorable treasures of mine, my kids are adults, ages 30 & 34! Lol. I love them and hope to have them on my tree as long as I live. ❤

We can't really afford to give gifts, so I make cookies for family instead. They love them and I love baking and gift giving so it's a win-win! Now that we have our daughter, I make a small craft as well. Last year was her footprint on an ornament for her first Christmas. This year I'm doing handprint snowmen!

I budgeted and saved all year for Christmas gifts this year, but after many years of my husband trying to get me to do no gifts…I am finally giving in this Christmas. I was in tears at first, especially because I saved all year, but now I am seeing more freedom and joy in the Christmas season. We spoke to our children who are 18-23 and to our surprise were completely on board with this decision. One said, heck yeah I am down with that, and another said this is actually a gift in itself and decided to tell her in-laws that they are also choosing to do no gifts this year and the in-laws are following suit. That one surprised me. 😊 Our parents also respected our choice this year without any complaints. I am thinking we may have started a whole new tradition deeper and wider than we ever imagined.

I love practical gifts. If it's something you will truly use, it doesn't become clutter in the corner.

When you showed the children's cookbook, it reminded me that I have a Betty Crocker cookbook for children from my childhood (I'm 66!) and still use it.

My husband & don’t have any kids, and instead of buying gifts for each other, we just buy something for the house. One year we bought a dishwasher, one year a new furnace, etc. If we don’t have as much to spend that year, maybe something smaller like new sheets or towels (but get rid of the old ones). It is so much less stressful & we accomplish something we would need to do anyway as well.

We have a tradition with our family that lives on the other side of our country (Canada) We send a box of little things that are locally made or bought for them to open at the beginning of December. Things you would get at craft markets or local vendors etc. It is really fun to see what is in the box and the kids love the surprise better than another toy or trading money.

When our two boys were littles, we limited their Christmas gifts to three a piece.🌲 Something they needed, something they wanted, and something small. I explained to them that the wise man gave the baby Jesus three gifts and that's why they were receiving three gifts.🎁 We also supported a Haitian child, so the boys got to pick out something special for him and we always did the Samaritan's Purse Christmas Shoe Box. They really enjoyed shopping for others. To celebrate the baby Jesus' birth, we usually made a small birthday cake for him.🎂 They are grown men now with families of their own and they still think about others before themselves. Blessings everyone!💗

Consumables are very good gifts that people don’t have to store. Think of their favorite chocolate, coffee, tea, gift cards to a specialty ice cream, lunch place or even grocery stores. These gifts are especially good for seniors.

I've started giving people homemade canned jams for Christmas. It's affordable, consumable, and a surprise because no one expects a millennial to know how to can, haha.

For our gifts, my husband and I asked loved ones for specific gift cards to help pay for date nights and babysitters. We already have everything we want and need, but offsetting the cost of a regular night out during the toddler trench years is truly what we want. People actually seemed happy that we took all the guesswork out for them.

Years ago i made my own gift bags using Christmas fabric from the fabric store. I sewed a long ribbon to the back to tie into a bow. We have used these for YEARS. I rarely buy Christmas wrap anymore. There are so many beautiful and fun designs and patterns to choose from. They store flat in my Christmas boxes and help pad my decor. Plus they make a great gift.

I love getting gift cards. My little kids love getting gift cards. We would go out less if it weren’t for our aunties who give gift cards! Thank you for our GIFT CARDS! 💓🙌🏻

Remember to check your local small businesses. A lot of them will have these gifts as well. Many have websites you can order through, for shipping or local pickup. Most bookstores can order any book you want within 1-2 weeks. If you're shopping for someone who lives far away, consider ordering from a store near them to save on shipping.

Loved all these ideas. I can't name this item exactly, but my husband was blown away (with surprise, and later how much he used it) with this extender slender tool that has a magnet and light on the end of it. You just extend it and slide it in hard to reach places if you've dropped a nail or something. (Sorry I'm not describing it well.) But it was one time I came through on the guy gift list. LOL

Last year for my husband (who is a huge car guy) I found photos of all his previous vehicles, or as many as I could and ordered him a custom car calendar. He loved it!
I also have got him a bidet attachment for the toilet and we both enjoy it haha

We made the decision and started simplifying Christmas gifts/giving years ago... won't go into all the details of what we do and not do... but I can tell you, it is very very minimal and simple...we are at that point now, in our lives, where it works... it is so lovely and freeing, no expectations, no wasted money, no guilt... Make the decision and STOP...just do it. Period. If you don't stop it now, ...you will be still commenting on this channel 5 years from now!
