Award winning short film | What Is Your Brown Number? | Studio Eeksaurus

"What is your Brown Number?" is Vinnie Ann Bose's graduation film from National Institute of Design, India. The film was produced by Studio Eeksaurus, Mumbai, in 2015 as part of our incubation initiative where young animation film aspirants are mentored and supported to initiate and inspire them to continue with their film making career. The film took 9-10 months to produce.

The film is a humorous depiction of the Indian obsession with fair skin and their prejudices regarding skin colour.

My cousin is getting married and we are having such a hard time finding a makeup artist who wont paint her white but do good indian bridial makeup. I swear they all have them have big gallon of one shade of foundation.

I remember when my teacher rejected me for dance in school because of my dark skin that day I cried a lot everyone need to understand that every skin color is beautiful

Im a white person from France and when i visited india, a lot of people treated me like i was a superstar, asking for selfies and photos with me. It felt kind of weird but I didnt mind it, but I do hope that people in india will be less fixated on skin colour in the future so everyone is happier :) 🇨🇵❤🇮🇳

Let me admit it.. I was also color obsessed few years ago.. As i grew i realised the importance of values, morals, behavior.. Matters more than colour.. I used to use too much face creams, face washes, , white tone creams .. But now i am free.. Whatever i am.. And i am proud of brown.
Edit:I takes care of my skin, , but not those toxic face creams anymore, , mostly aloevera products, , believe it or not but my skin much good now

India, Pakistan, so many asian countries need to understand that beauty is not limited to appearances. Dark skin isn’t “dirty” and no one should be ashamed of their skin. This is a custom that NEEDS to go.
Recently, a brand renamed itself from “fair and lovely” to “glow and lovely” and this made me really happy, even if it was just to avoid criticism. We need to slowly work our way up to complete non-discrimination.

I was the only girl with a darker complexion in my family all of my cousis were super fair. In my childhood always called me ugly and even said i won't get a groom because i was dark. My mom was so worried about it and she made me try everything to make my skin color fair but nothing worked. But now i really love my skin colour
