I agree, I have done the inside and outside with miter saw, never again after I bought the ratcheting PVC cutter. Great tool to have even if you buy it for one job.

I work with furniture grade PVC to make various flutes. The saw should work well. I just ordered one. My jigsaw blades are always cutting crookedly and leaving very ragged ends that need much work evening and smoothing. Thank you for the advice.

You can now get cheaper versions of these ratcheting cutters at the big box stores for less than $15. Sounds like an ideal thing for a homeowner with only the occasional pipe that needs to be cut.

You can get a precise square cut using a hacksaw. By using it with a miter box. I had to cut 2" PVC pipe for a pool plumbing repair and with the miter box got perfect cuts.

Honestly, the ratcheting cutters are the fastest way to crack the pipe.

If you want to crack the pipe, make it unusable and have to replace and entire section then use one of the ratcheting cutters. Otherwise you need to buy a Sawzall or another reciprocating cutting tool. Do not even attempt to cut old PVC with anything other than a rotary or reciprocating saw.

Another benefit of the ratcheting cutters is that you don't have to factor in the width of the blade in your measurements since it doesn't remove any material. It's very easy for a diyer to cut wrong because of the width of the blade

If you're pipe is over 10 years old the ratcheting cutters will crack your pipe.
