For example in AC2:

-De' Pazzi family
-The Barbarigos

Al Mualim, Altair's master was one of the real founder of Assassin's order in Masyaf. His real name is Rashid ad-din Sinan also known as the old man of the mountains. It's crazy that Masyaf castle still exists to this day in Syria.
