Excellent tips here Phil. My favorite takeaway from this vid is how you pointed out that new hardware is more expensive than ever, GPUs maybe forever, and what a better way to ride out this storm than play old games! Steam sales, Humble bundles, GOG and so on have plenty of choices for Win10 even before diving into the retro classics. Plenty of gaming fun to be had on the cheap.

Reshade for real RESHADE with a SMAA injector and even things like CAS filter all you have to do is add a DX8 shader for a lot of these games that are old

Also I finished Planescape: Torment EE. It is a simply one of a kind rpg experience that shouldn't be missed.

This is so incredibly useful! I recently got back into retro pc gaming and was immediately put off how blurry everything looks. I thought the only way around it is to get an old CRT. Can’t wait to apply what I’ve learned here 😄

good tips, altho even most older games can still be made to run widescreen, only the really old ones, +15 years, needs this treatment.

4:18 Just to add information, VSR on AMD, or DSR on NVIDIA, works best when you use a 4x multiplier "At least on NVIDIA side", which actually render it 2 times of your resolution of your monitor native resolution, which was showen here, but if your monitor is let say 1440p, 4k looks bad so that would require even more which is 5k or 2880p.
I know you know it Phil but a completely beginner might misunderstand and think he or she can run it in 4k regardless.

Now i do wonder how VSR or DSR looks with a "low-res" CRT, 1280x960 on a IBM 640x480 monitor anyone? at least thats a very LGR thing too do

Thank you for that tips. For older games I have IBM ThinkVision L200p 20" monitor as a second connected to main PC which has 1600x1200 resolution, older games looks fantastic there.

For really old games, or other titles that use very low resolutions Reshade with the xbr can do wonders.
