This why I say you don't need to worry about your English.

Interesting. There are so many versions of English. It's nice to see how you reacted to a different version of French.

We have a different world in SE, Louisiana. Our language, food, and culture are all rare to America.

I've been to New Orleans a couple times, but did not encounter Cajun French. Thank goodness. If Marie has trouble, I would've had no shot.

Granted I only took French in high school - I only understood “children, ” “English, ” and “French” 😂

My late grandfather was Cajun. He lived in Akers Louisiana, my great grandmother also lived in Metairie most of her life. She toured for the USO and did dancing for the soldiers during WWII.

I know a neighborhood of a few thousand deep in the bayou who speak it. They don't on camera's. They push media away tell them there not a circus. But they would 100% talk with a French girl visiting. Very nice people. If you ever want the location👍

Yeah, I lived down in Lafayette for a few years. That place is definitely different in just about every way.

My Dad was born in 1928 Louisiana, could understand most of this Cajun French but didn't learn to speak it back. Odd but true

One of my old Cajun customers got to take a trip to Italy and visited France (son was stationed in Italy, near the border), and while in France was told "You speak old dead French!"
Cajun has had to make due with whatever for newer things. Lightbulb is iirc the word they also use for bolt or screw.

An old video but hilarious....Cajun Onstar (the poor guy on the other end of the call is from Ohio and understands Cajun English as well as you understand Cajun French)

Bonjour, bon journée et Merci Marie!

This guy was speaking more creole than Cajun French. Though they are often blended, Louisiana Creole is not French, though the speakers call it French.

I went on a swamp tour on that lake. I could barely understand our guides English. 🐊
But it was fun.

I'm from Michigan and have family in Tennessee that has a strong southern draw. At times I have a hard time understanding them. 🤔
