Today’s Adventure: A Jersey-Style Sloppy Joe!

Today, I visited the famous Milburn Deli to try their version of a Sloppy Joe sandwich. But guess what? It wasn’t at all what I expected! Instead of the classic messy, saucy sandwich I had in mind, I was introduced to the Jersey Deli Sloppy Joe—a completely different experience that caught me off guard (in the best way possible).

My goto at the Millburn Deli is the Turkey Trot and the homemade iced tea 😊😊

Almost $20 is a lot for one sandwich. I could buy a pound of sliced turkey from the deli and swiss cheese, a loaf of bread, a bottle of thousand island dressing and coleslaw from the grocery store for $25 and feed the family.

Ahh yes a North Jersey original. I haven’t had a Turkey Joe since I left the crib years ago. Our go to sandwich between study hall & lunch back in high school🥪

Back in the day there was a deli in Belleville that did a slopy joe with corned beef, pastrami and roast beef. It was good. The place closed up in the late 90's

Man, that was my go-to place when I worked up in Livingston! There’s a branch near me in Westfield. Those sloppy Joe’s are good.

However, they have competition from Alfredo’s Italian Deli in Scotch Plains!

You need to go around the corner to Saigon café and get some pho and other food everything is boom. The pork Bombay sandwich is the bomb.
