Trying Out The Bailout

In pioneering a flying site the bailout LZ should be part of the flying agenda. Unlike most bailouts this one is relatively far from launch. The preferable LZ is a top landing at Devils Gap. With the tall Ponderosa Pines lining the LZ on the side of launch the bailout is effectively an 8.5/1 glide from takeoff. Even though I used a bit of ridge and some thermal lift, getting to the bailout was a close enough experience that I'll not launch from Devils Gap in less than soarable winds again!
Thanks Doug & Ken for the help!

Had me tense there for a bit. One more experience, eh? Good on ya and glad it worked out well. Thanks for posting the vid.

Yeah, I've done that way too often. Must concentrate on putting the pull back in place - or at least freeing it from my hand. Bringing it to the basetube was not intentional. I did it again on a flight I made Monday that I'm uploading now. Shame on me!
Next time I fly DG will be in NNW to NE winds of 15+ mph. It is not a site for a sledder!

I just went back and watched this for the second time, cause I like your vids. Had time so I watched it in HD. One comment...Be carefull about stowing your zipper pulls after use. Catching it on the base tube could have caused you to have a lack of full control range...Just sayin bro! Fly safe...ps I was going oh sh(*& at 1:40 when the field just came into view and it looked like you were already in the tree tops...LOL
