I love my makita tools, I hope they focus up on improving the guns.

At work these do not sell well at all, the feedback so far from carpenters is that the gun is too big, expensive and unreliable. I tend to agree with them. So far Milwaukee, Hikoki and DeWalt are leaving Makita in the dust with nail guns.

I’m pretty much fully on Makita xgt and a big fan of makita but my 16 and 18g nailers are Milwaukee and my framing nailer is paslode which tells you all you need to know about makita nailers! I was looking forward to the new makita framing nailer but they have managed to make it even heavier than the Milwaukee framer which I had for a while and is now sat in the shed as a spare because I was tired of carting it around!

All I can think about, is whoever goes to take that door trim off, is really going to hate you!

I just got the Makita 12v 23 pin nailer, bought it used and broken. Fixed it and now I’m just hoping it doesn’t break again

I got 4 queens from Matt. I put them in a push in cage over capped brood and open cells so she could lay instantly . I released her three days later. The push in cage was full of newly hatched brood.

Bought one of these a month ago. It fucked up on the first nail. Had to go and borrow another from a mate to get the job done. Not impressed.

I’ve just bought one but I’m going to have to send it back, it’s comically heavy 🤷‍♂️

Gosh I didn’t expect a fellow northern Irish accent.

Well, my mum has the 18guage version of this same gun, strictly speaking shes retired but has started the whole retro-fix furniture upscaling type thing.

She seems to get on fine with hers, she uses it a lot during the day, and uses the 6ah battery.

I think it’s got to do with personal stature really.

If you need a light gun then don’t get one with motors in it….. and by that I mean get an air nailer. That’s what I wanted to get for mum until she reminded me that using a motor nailer was nothing compared to giving birth to two kids.

I reckon she’s right - she’s as hard as nails!

Mine is awful. Too heavy and honestly struggles to drive brads into hardwood which is crazy considering the size of it. Plus its pretty unreliable, it dry fires on probably every 10th brad you shoot

I’m a makita guy myself, but all the mixed reviews I read about the makita guns and all the glowing reviews about the Milwaukees make me want to get a milwaukee and an adaptor to use makita batteries for it

My gen2 Milwaukee is perfect with certain nails only. If I stick DeWalt branded nails for some reason I get jams every 5-10 shots. The porter cable nails are what I use. Maybe we haven't found the right nail for Makita.

I like my Makita nailers, but aside from the 23g model they weigh a lot and are indeed large.
The little one likes to jamb more often than I imagine is an acceptable amount.

I have the same Ryobi versions of them except for 18g finish gun.
I want the Makita, but the price is too high to justify, especially since the Ryobi seems dependable and was much cheaper.
The one time I found a pawn shop Makita 16g unit, they wouldn’t budge on the price. That was a year ago, maybe when I visit Seattle next week it’ll still be there.
One can dream.

My take is this....i don't care how heavy the nail gun is. Dragging a god**** air hose or extension cord all over kingdom come and getting hung up on things constantly is enough to make me psychotic. Corded table saws are ok because they're stationary. Saws, drills, and nail guns are not. Every time i shoot in a nail with my 21° milwaukee framing nailer i think to myself it sure is nice not having to drag an airline around. It makes the weight of the tool seem like less of an issue.
GOD...I HATE AIRLINES AND EXTENSION

The fact that at that size... it's not a first fix is wild

It is a 16ga. You have to expect a bit more heft. But yeah, Makita seems to be putting no effort whatsoever into their cordless nailers

They have a smaller model but it can only shoot shorter brads
