Sergio Pérez's Rollercoaster Journey To F1

Sergio Pérez's racing career properly began when he gave up everything in Mexico and moved to Europe as a teenager, completely alone. His road to F1 was far from certain as he battled loneliness and language barriers on the other side of the world from his family. But Checo never gave up on his dream, and worked hard to achieve a seat in Formula 1.

This story makes us truly understand the tears behind his first win last year.

He came on his own, into an unknown country, where even the language must have looked alien to him. Kudos to checo to not only enter F1, but also rack up wins and podiums.

I want him to win the mexican GP so much. Just imagine what a dream that would be.

This was a beautifully-told Origins story about Sergio. He's an amazing athlete.
Well done, Red Bull.

Sergio's such a genuinely great guy. Fully deserves that RB seat.

I'm not a racer, but I'm in my second month living in Europe from California trying to play professional Water Polo. I'm mirroring his life in my sport! :) 3 am phone calls, parents mad at international phone bills, smaller team that I'm making Euro debut in, with hopes of getting picked up by bigger teams down the road, I'm living that part right now. Watching this is a bit surreal, I feel like I see my future as long as I persist. So thank you for this! I needed it. Checo just became one of my inspirations :)
Edit: Thanks for the support everybody

Checo is my daughter’s favorite driver (and no it’s not a crush…my daughter is into cars and can race karts and beat 20 year olds out on the Colorado Springs track and she’s 12! My 17 year old son has never beaten her…she’s fierce like Max…I’m quite proud).
She absolutely lost her mind the last 2 races screaming at Perez’ 2 podiums haha. It was she who got me into F1.

I took her to the USGP and she was in Heaven. When she heard the sound of the cars scream by for the first time, her eyes were as big as saucers (so were mine to be fair…it was my first motorsports race and I was blown away, and to think I thought Formula 1 was a brand of motor oil until 2019!!). Never seen her so happy, makes my day.
Go Checo and Max!!

I love Checo and although it's not mentioned here, how his loyalty saved his previous team only for him to be turfed out. He showed his character more than anyone else out there today. A true gentleman, he deserves all his success, brilliantly quick too! Got mad respect for the guy. Get in there Checo, here's hoping for a home win in the next GP!

Checo’s hustle is really inspiring. Most drivers nowadays are actually rich to begin with and that helps kickstart their careers.

Despite being Dutch myself, I support Checo more than any other driver on the grid. I was so happy when he finally got his first victory in Sakhir, and when I heard he had signed with Red Bull Racing, I knew there were more to come

¡Vamos, Checo!

The support for Checo in the US was insane. Lots of love for him which was awesome to see. I can’t imagine what it’ll be like in Mexico this week. I’ll be rooting for him

Red Bull has such a polar-team...
We have Max Verstappen who is a prodigy with pedigree
and we have Sergio Perez who started with so less but is now the greatest ever Mexican driver

Checo, que luchó contra las injusticias que le pusieron en su país, poniéndole un race ban injusto por temas de intereses, que se forjó hasta llegar a F1, conseguir podios, visctorias y aguantar tanto tiempo en un deporte tan exigente. ¡Thank you Red Bull for choosing Checo and gave him such a beast of car!

As a kid I followed Senna then i followed The Michael until he retired. Soon after I stopped following because i didn't like the politics of F1 and maFIA along with the big teams. One day last yr YT suggested a video of you and your first win. I saw your raw emotions and I shed some tears with you. Seeing you sitting there on the podium full of emotions hit me right in the middle of my chest. I watched some more videos of you and realized you were the Ultimate Underdog. I was hooked and you became my new F1 hero. Then you joined RBRH and introduced me to Max. (I watched his dad race but never thought much of him) I now love Max as much as you and RB is my team. Thank you Checo for bringing me back to the sport I once loved with a passion. Max is the future for me but for now you are my main man.
Ole, ole ole ole
