I was 5 years old when this concert took place. My former boss told me the real meaning of "Born in the U.S.A." and we had a spirited discussion about it for a good 30 minutes. It really opened up my eyes to the meaning of this song, a lesson that I'll never forget.

I always roll my eyes at how many people misinterpret the meaning of this song. Is it a patriotic song ? Yeah it is, but not for the song title, but for the simple fact that if we are Patriots we should never let happen what has happened to our sons and daughters who went to war to defend our freedoms !

Breathtaking. I can’t believe he sang this to upwards of 200, 000 East Germans. I love his cojones for singing this when people were shot for trying to escape Into West Germany

If you’re old enough to remember our boy’s go off to the Vietnam War, which even today I could not tell you why . However this song gives you a pretty good idea that most of young men dreaded Tuesday nights in Australia, because that was call up night. They would put 31 balls in a Bingo machine and if your date of birth come up, you were off for your medical, if you passed that I think you had about 2 weeks, too quit your job and tie up any loose ends . Then you were to a place called Puckapunual, too do your 6 weeks basic training and then you were put on the Navy ship, The Sydney and taken to Vietnam. You stayed there fighting this war that too my way of thinking was a stupid war, a war we didn’t need to have. You talk to anyone who were teenagers and young people and everyone was affected by it and had a story to tell. The amount of young blokes when they come home, who were so changed, who had PTSD and other things wrong with them was staggering and the very worst part was they were never recognised as Returned Soldiers for years after, they were as far as the Government was concerned, swept under the carpet and left there. This wonderful song commentates them and as I said In the beginning if you were a teenager or young person in this era you will never forget.🎼♥️🇦🇺♥️🇺🇸🕺🏻💃🎸

Here's a pro America, pro western oppressed people under the iron curtain crowd rocking out to an anti American protest song. Kind of ironic.
