I was stuck in area with no loads expect for this one that was paying like 1.30$ a mile. It was getting close to the end of the day going into the weekend and I was really not trying to sit for 2 more days. I called on that load and the broker was telling me that’s all he’s got in on that load and that he’s gonna lose money for any more than that. I told him give me a few minutes to think about it. I got lucky and a 2$ a mile load pops up so I booked that instead . The first broker called me back I told him I found something else and he instantly tells me he can do 2$ a mile when couple minutes ago he was crying that he was going to be losing money if he payed any more than 1.30$. They really out finnesing drivers. I don’t think all brokers are bad but don’t believe their whining.

Your part of the reason I started my box truck company bro. Was running strong for 4 months with my own authority n everything. Crooks at repair shops took me out of business. Imagine paying 15k in repairs and your truck still not being able to run. 15K in they said that they think its an electrical problem that I need to bring it else were. Truck sat for 4 months while still paying 1900 dollar insurance. Took it to another shop and they charged me 8k to fix it(was not an electrical problem) .28K spent just because I have to rely on people to do right, I couldnt even sleep at night.I was emotionally distraught. I just wanted my truck back so i could run. If trucking was my only income at that time I would be on the streets. It’s like nobody treats you like a human in this industry, your literally a walking atm machine. Its Straight cut throat!!! Between the repair shops and being disrespected by the brokers who treat us like shit . I just realize this is not the industry for me. I would rather be a dispatcher, or anything else that doesn’t require owning a truck. It felt like a dark cloud with the trucking business. Everybody gets a piece of your pie while you get all the left over crumbs and deal with all the extra headaches while working the hardest.Being away for weeks, time spent from ya family, driving on them dangerous streets just didnt make sense for me. I ended up selling the truck when prices for them were insane and ended up breaking even. Thank god! I just want to salute you for still doing your thing bro. Trust me I know behind the cameras u have some really tough days. But I’m glad to still see you rolling fam. Shit ain’t easy at all

I'm a box truck driver myself and the reason these guys drop the rates is because drivers accept them

I'm gonna be honest, everyone is quitting everywhere. From McDonald's to Microsoft, these are some crazy times we live in.

I’m on the Sprinter Van side. The key to success, as an owner operator, solo carrier, is market yourself locally. Cut out the middle man by boots on the ground, build relationships with customers and make all the $$$ yourself. Let your work ethic, hustle & communication speak for you! Safe Travels!!

Ding ding ding. You hit it on the head. With diesel costs the way they are they have lost their minds. Carriers need to stop taking low paying loads!!

I own my semi truck and don’t begrudge any hotshot driver for trying to make a living. If times get hard you have to adapt. When the market tanked I put my truck on with a small local carrier and have been killing it since. I’ve never been doing this good even when rates we’re good. If you’re working off the load board you’re already fighting for crumbs.

This is an emotional market the brokers need to be boycotted

I was a railroad locomotive engineer for 20yrs. We unfortunately couldn’t get a single terminal of 30 people to ban together over a issue much less a entire industry. Unfortunately it’s going to be survival of the financial fittest for awhile.

Brother, as someone who knows nothing about this type of work, THANK YOU for your time and patience with explaining and breaking things down for us.

I started driving big trucks around 30 years ago. Every time a ressecion hits, the trucking industry gets a boost from alot of people that get laid off. 2 years later, the majority of them end up leaving trucking. Just have to weather the situation. I've hauled reefer, dry van, flat bed, oversize, LTL. Try to get a contract with a customer if you can. Build relationships. It makes a difference. Thanks for keeping it real.

I am a Veteran owned and operated carrier service. Yes, you are right. Not all of the brokers are rude, but I have definitely run into my share of pompous, arrogant, and entitled brokers.
I have noticed prices going lower and lower, sometimes not even 1.00 mile, that’s ridiculous.
We need to stick together .

Good video. As a dispatcher I'm seeing everyday how difficult it is for truckers.

I agree with your statement about the industry itself. I am just starting a business, signed up for LLC, got my EIN, and tried signing up for my MC number. What blows my mind is, minutes after I signed on to the website FMCSA, a shit load of companies came at me like bees stinging a person for messing with their bee hive. Before I knew it, I was signed up for 2 different companies. I mean dang, let this sink in, you know. BAM BAM BAM. Well, in the end, I quit both and got refunded. One of them I got a UCR and I'm not sure what to hell that is. They hurry up, bend you over, sign your ass up, and start talking to you like you are their employee. I told them " I paid YOU, if I wanted a JOB, I'd find one on InDeed"... THese people DO NOT LISTEN to what you want. I told them I wanted regional delivery. I am an old man, just a few years from retirement. I will walk & leave them dry before anyone takes my peace of mind.
