Junk Journal January is a free month-long challenge to inspire you to create in your junk journal or art journal. It’s a great chance to kickstart your creativity in 2025 with a supportive community and show up to your journal!

How to get involved

Follow the prompt list and create along each day - or pick and choose the prompts that take your fancy. There are no rules! You’re welcome to use the prompts with other types of journaling too.

Creator collaboration

Each day throughout the month, watch a new video from 30 different creators on YouTube. Create a journal page alongside them for the day’s prompt. Videos will appear in the playlist at 12pm (midday) GMT each day from 1 January.

All the creators and artists who will be sharing videos throughout January as part of the YouTube collaboration 🤩

You know what… as I was watching and admiring your journal, I was thinking how I am critical of my own journals, but still I love journaling and I just love how everybody is different and that’s what make everyone’s journals unique and beautiful, I think that it’s amazing how God has made us all unique and beautiful in His eyes. I think your journal is beautiful, I love it 🥰

I like the simplicity of this page and the layered base. There is space to add more, but I like this just as it is. You have to feel satisfied with this page, so do what makes you happy.

Nice. It's perfect. Sometimes, we don't know when to stop. I just did that with a novelty page that I painted. I loved it and ordered butterfly punches to make with this paint. Then I thought it would make pretty layers in a flower, so I made some. Before I knew it my paper was gone. I had none left to use when my punches get here. Now I'll have to try and repete it for the butterfly punches. Lol

Wow. I wouldn’t have thought of the white outline. It’s wonderful. I think it’s finished. Great video, again..💕💕💕💕

I have had the flu so I’m behind. The journal was already made and had decorated my cover but that is it. I started feeling a little better today so this is the first video of yours I’ve watched for inspiration. I like the out line of the flower very much! It is a beautiful focal point for both pages!

Love the tip-up. The page is beautiful. I would leave it as it is. For this prompt, I outlined pop-art type circles on a book page and then cut them out. Added my Tim Holtz paper dolls with a quote. It’s really different for me.

The is my first JJJ and after creating a fabulous little journal I've found it kind of hard to do the prompts. My pages are very simple but I'm okay with that. My strategy is to keep it simple and doable as I can always come back to do if I'm inspired to add to them. For outline I found some pretty leaves outside and have drawn around them and used some watercolour to copy the colour of them. I have no skill but I enjoy playing. I think your page is wonderful as is, as usual. I loved the use of the white pen, that was a brilliant idea and very effective. Thank you for sharing, Meg. 🌻🌻🌻

Love this. I know it looks better in person but still from this camera view it's gorgeous.

Aloha! I think this will be the first year that I join in on Junk Journal January!🥳 I'm excited! Just got home from a long holiday with family. So i'm gonna be running a little late with this, but I will catch up! Since you asked...I think you should add more to the page! Thanks for keeping me company Meg❤

So I have a question for day 6 I don’t have the stuff for embossing so was just wondering how I could do that day.. I don’t have a machine so do you have an idea for another option? Thanks in advance and I love the way you craft with no fancy things and you are using up your scraps.. 💜💜✌️

I think your page is pretty, and I think it is complete as is. .... I have made a few video shorts "Show & Tell" style, showing what I've done so far. 😊

Thanks for this idea! I was thinking that black may be too harsh for my journal I’m working in (main colors are browns, greens and blues) but white posca marker will save meeee❤
