I go to a clinic that trains young doctors. To my surprise, the last two intern doctors have recommended that I follow a low carb diet for my pre-diabetes! The low carb message is getting through to the younger generation! BTW, your channel is the best!

Dennis, I started my journey with you in January. I've added things like long-term fasting to my regimen. Today is day 30 of my 30 days water-only fast.

My lab results came back from yesterday's blood work. I was at an A1C of 14 and weighed about 230 when I started this journey in January.

I weigh 185 and my A1C is 6.7. I still have a little work to do, but the journey has been successful!

My thanks to you for your ministry - and all glory, honor and praise to our God and King for His blessings on this journey. Nothing I've accomplished is of my own, I owe it all to the Lord Jesus Christ - and many thanks to you, sir. :)

I'm glad to report I'm in the fives club. My A1C today is at 5.6. after I discovered I had diabetes three months ago, my A1C was 8.9. with perseverance. Avoiding all high carb foods, all sugar drinks, all processed food I have been able to finally control the monster of the diabetes. I also lost 6 inches in my waist. I went from 42 to 36 and lost more than 30 pounds in the process.
Thank you for your teachings, but more specially thank you for the encouragement to persevere

I looked this up again the other day to remind myself of what the numbers indicate....hopefully it will help others too:

A1C levels:

A normal A1C level is below 5.7%

A level of 5.7% to 6.4% indicates prediabetes
Within the 5.7% to 6.4% prediabetes range, the higher your A1C, the greater your risk is for developing type 2 diabetes

A level of 6.5% or more indicates diabetes

Here is a concept that I have found works for me. It has to do with eating to “Mike” the meter! I do 1 or 2 Meals a day (within a 6 hour window for 2). Once a week I will do a 42 hour fast if I see that my glucose numbers have a rising tendency. For me, this is an increasing Dawn effect. I have a continuous glucose monitor (Libre 2) I know that fasting brings my glucose down. So I have started a simple new (for me) plan to supplement the above. I use my meter to eat. If my glucose is out of range, I DON’T EAT! Or put another way, I only eat when my glucose in is the normal range. I am fighting the war with my Dawn effect. My glucose reading are highest during the first few hours of the day. SO, I am eating in the afternoon. I have a problem with being hungry at times. This makes me think my body needs to eat. Using my meter tells me that the hunger is prompting ”emotional eating”. My meter tells me I have plenty of glucose in my body, maybe too much. I certainly don’t need to put in more. So, my meter not only tells me the effect on my Blood Glucose of different foods, but also when is the best time to eat. I eat to my meter.

I rarely comment on YouTube but I must say Beat Diabetes has helped me tremendously. I received more information from here than I have from my doctor. I felt their need to push Metformin.
I'm still having difficulty with the dawn phenomenon, so I'll try eTRE. I'm praying that I figure out my body soon. Thank you Pastor.

Over 20 years ago when both my husband and myself were diagnosed with diabetes they had us go to an appointment before they gave us our glucometers. This appointment was 3 to 4 hours long and they had several Medical Professional speaking. They had a nutritionist talk about Foods portion sizes things like that back then it was the standard American diet sad to say but the thing that really stood out was when they had the dentist speaking with everybody. They gave an example of a woman who had perfect oral hygiene for most of her life and suddenly within 3 months of being diagnosed with diabetes her gums loosened on the teeth and her teeth started falling out these teeth had no cavities in them. The dentist explained that the glucose damaged the gums and cause them to weaken on the teeth. That's why they really encourage stable blood sugars as well as brushing and flossing definitely flossing as part of diabetes control. Finally after all the various speakers presented their information then they had the presentation on usage of the glucometer and then they gave us our prescriptions to go get our glucometers from the pharmacy. Back then this was mandatory protocol with all new diabetes diagnosed individuals.
One of the other awesome speakers was the eye doctors talking about how blood sugars affect the health of your eyes and vision and how it can create problems with eye pressures glaucoma cataracts and even torn or detached retinas because of the unhealthy quality of the blood in the eyes. So during the first two minutes of this message I was so excited and happy to see that you had a dentist that is on their game and that gives his patients information on the proper human diet. Accurate information is always a game changer and I have learned to really appreciate your phrase about calling the top professional in for consultation and that is Mike the meter. Amen and amen.

Love this video. I explain it to friends and people I meet this way. I'm a golfer, and I have a title, the Worst Golfer in the World. Dennis, you said you play golf, but you are at least 1000 times better than me. The golfers golden rule is, "STAY ON THE FAIRWAY." You don't have to do that. Getting off the fairway is not breaking any law. There are no golf police. You can hit it in the sand trap, the bushes, the woods, the lake, a tree, the ruff, the sawgrass, or an alligator can eat your ball. Lots of different things can happen when you play golf. The more you stay in the fairway, the more fun you have. The more you stay on the real food low carb fairway, the sooner you will finish beating diabetes. Eating keto cookies, keto snacks, keto bread, frozen rice, and spinach pasta take you straight into the next sand trap.

What a beautiful lady ! You make a better world. Deeply respect even though I am not religious. I started to follow your videos a few months ago after my A1C went up to 6.5. I started the low carbs diet (actually no carbs) and IF (eat only from 12 pm to 6 pm), after 3 months I dropped my weight by 10% and my A1C was back to 5. I should have waited another month before I checked my A1C but I was so eager to find out if it works. It works. Thank you.

2 and 1/2 months ago was diagnosed with type 2 with A1C at 10. something and 243 lbs with high blood pressure. Last week A1C of 5.6 and weight of 211 and 112/68 blood pressure and normal cholesterol. I have had high blood pressure for what seems forever. I'm on blood pressure meds and statins for cholesterol. I will be tapering off those meds very soon. Thanks for the help. I only eat lunch and dinner and cut all carbs out except for the one or two carbs for low-carb items.

People are steadily getting the Carb is the most beneficial way to eat even if you don't have diabetes..
There was a time I believed in the sweet potato/brown rice/whole grain myth then Mike taught me differently.
Blessings Dennis
