Lumix GH5 vs Lumix GH4 4K Crop Factor

This is just a quick test, and not meant to be a review by any means. However, over the next few weeks I will be rolling out several posts on my experiences with the Lumix GH5 and what some of the features mean to me.

I was testing out the new Lumix GH5 today, and had a revelation. Due to our busy lifestyle, my wife and I film in our car all the time. Normally I film this angle with the Lumix GH4, and due to the 4K crop factor on the GH4 I always resort to using the Lumix 7-14mm f4 lens.

I adore the GH4, and the Lumix 7-14 f4, but I often wished I could get away with a fast prime such as the Leica 12mm 1.4 so that I could film our car time at night.

Well, as it turns out there is no crop factor with the Lumix GH5 in 4K, and that makes filming in tight quarters like a car much easier on a variety of fronts. So, this feature alone would make the camera worth the upgrade to me, and there are a lot more features I am discovering as well.

Hi! I would like to know if you have the option of using crop mode in the camera such as the a7rII have. because sometimes it is interesting to have this extra crop when you want to.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but not having the 4k crop on the gh5 means that the full sensor is being used, and the bonus to that is an extra stop of light. And that's in addition to the other extra stop courtesy the updated software/chip in the body.

Do you know that both F2.8 12-15 & F2.8 35-100mm are firmware upgradable to be compatible with the body 5 point stabilisation.? 12-35mm H-HS12035, 35-100 H-HS35100 Both Ver 1.3. Cheers.

Hey, just wondering... How would a GH5 +Canon 70-200mm 2.8 + 2x Teleconverter + Metabones speedbooster work? I've already got the GH4, lens and speedbooster. Am heading to the south of Africa in August for a couple of months in the game parks and want a really long focal length for primarily video on safari.

I figure it would be GH5 in 4K - 200mm*2*2*0.71 = 568mm, would this just look like shit?

..could even use a GH4 4K without speedbooster on a bright day at 200mm*2.3*2 = 920mm O_O, is this bad math?

I was so keen on getting the GH5 (again) - I say again because I want a camera that does 60fps 4k and the GH5 seems to be it - then I notice the footage at 02:09 and yup, the friggin' focus is out.
