German climate activists throw mashed potatoes on Monet painting

Climate protesters have thrown mashed potatoes at a Claude Monet painting at Potsdam’s Barberini Museum, to protest fossil fuel extraction.

These aren't activists, these are people following a meme, like the ice bucket challenge or dabbing on train tracks. They have no concrete goals, no action plan, just copy catting the previous guys for media attention and some narcissistic cred.

Then go study engineering and innovate carbon capture science or fight desertification or teach destitute farmers new sustainability techniques, or become an investigative journalist and attack corruption, or a physicist and work on cold fusion. This is just so infuriatingly stupid. Did they even do research on which restoration service would be used to undo their stupid potato mess, and that restoration process' carbon impact?

I consider myself to be a person who is very concerned about the climate disaster but this is NOT helping and is likely to have the opposite effect and alienate some people from supporting environmentalist groups in general.

Reminds me of when the early christians would destroy the great Roman and Greek pieces of sculptures and mosaics, etc, just to establish their own authority over the old timers, also because they couldn't create anything nearly as good as their predecessors, so they destroyed them out of insecurity. We are now again living in that time of human history lol
