To me in Hamburg, Germany, the one with the swans isn't all that weird. We have someone called a "Schwanenvater" (Swan Father). This goes back all the way to the fifteenth century. Every November, all the swans on the Alster are caught and brought to another body of water to spend the winter. That and more is the task of the Schwanenvater. He also looks out for their well-being the rest of the year.

I’m very confused as to why you need a military background to be the raven master?! If it takes another 4 years extra training after that then what you do in the job can’t be massively linked to military work or you wouldn’t need to train for so long xxx

I’m partially disabled especially in my legs so I struggle to find employment although I do give me time to a charity book shop as a volunteer. But if I need to get paid work I really really struggle so I honestly need to find one of these hotels that needs a bed warmer. Not a lot of physical strain in that job and I’m sure the fact that I need to sit down at regular intervals won’t be a problem at all if my job is to lie in a warm comfortable bed. Although you’d feel a bit strange going on your break in that job? “Wow I’m exhausted from all that lying in a bed this evening” lol 😂 😂 😂 xxx
