Nissan Titan Frontier Xterra Armada Airbox Mod - FREE!

This is a quick video on how to modify your airbox for better airflow for free all by yourself. Caution this mod is permanent and not reversible. This works on Frontiers Xterras Titans and Armadas.

Thanks for the visual. My 2nd gen Xterra has the same air box and I have read how to do it but a visual is always better. I think I'll go the sawzall route like you did and file off any sharp edges then clean it good with the shop vac.

I cut out most of the air filter housing bottom then drilled holes around the perimeter sides of the housing, providing lots of combustion air.

Exactly how much HP did you gain?
I’m sure the Nissan engineers had no idea what they were doing when they designed the box, lol.
Obviously you have a better handle on these things.

I might have to try this. Might try adding A short velocity stack. Might not do anything but I'll take my chances

I did the same to my Titan, except for removing the box. Was a little more difficult, but was able to do it. In my case, I cut away the top of the pipe which did the same thing. Not sure of the HP gain.

stop doing this. It does absolutely nothing, I've dyno tested it.
