Edit: oml y'all. Not every scenario means leaving. If you and that person choose to remain friends it's entirely up to the two of you. There is such a thing as catching feels for a long term friend. People change. If you're not mature enough to handle it, or if you're circling around them waiting to be picked, then you should leave. But some people do have the ability to put that aside. SMH

Moral of the story; don't become close friends with a girl if you are trying to date them, stick with friendly acquaintances, or casual/distant friend-of-a-friend type relationship, much easier to pivot into flirting/showing your interest without making it awkward or weird, much easier to maintain or exit the relationship with no hard feelings if you get shot down. I have had more than one person who I shot down go on to later become one of my best friends, what is important is letting them know your intentions/interest before you get too close, that way you can make the decision wether to become close freinds or if your only interest is in dating them.

Agree for the most part, but one thing I've learned is that it becomes exceedingly difficult to distance oneself from that person if they are genuinely great to be around/with, regardless of whether you're upfront with each other. I'm a firm believer that your S/O should also double as the role of a best friend. Really feels like a double edged sword if you're not in a relationship though...

Maybe I'm doing this wrong, but I also don't think you should have to "try". You can do or give them everything they want and still not be attractive enough for them.

Furthermore, there is no friend zone. Its the fact that some people cant take rejection and need to validate that rejection into some form. Either you make your intentions and feelings known, and they reject you because they dont feel the same way, that not a "friendzone". Its just simple rejection, and it happens to everybody. OR, you just do nice things and hope that they eventually confess feelings for you or something? Idk. It seems weird to think that you're only friends with somebody because you want a romantic relationship with them. Rejection happens to everybody. Get over it, mature, and move one.
