I'm indigenous to Puerto Rico and the Domican Republic. I'm extremely proud of that part of my roots. Love and blessings to all.

This honestly shows how the latino culture is one and stick together instead of arguing which one is better, which neither one is because we all share the same foods, music, and dancing. So we really wouldn't make a difference of whos better or not.

Merengue is from and always will be from the Dominican Republic. It’s our national pride and it’s declared by the unesco as Patrimonial Inmaterial de la Humanidad ❤️

My church did a Puerto Rican dinner dance fundraiser and I’m becoming more familiar with this dance style and loving it. Didn’t get to dance much the first time so just let the music wash over me. Had a previous Latin dance lesson at Fiesta Mexicana though.

Bravo! Thank you so much for saying that also Puerto Rico has merengue as a native dance. How ever, Puerto Rico's merengue is a slow and romantic dance. It has a danza fusion.

Often mistaken for reggae or reggae en español, reggaeton is a younger genre which originated in the clubs of San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1991. It became known as "underground" music, due to its circulation through informal networks and performances at unofficial venues. Puerto Ricans DJ Playero and DJ Nelson were inspired by hip hop and Latin American music to produce "riddims, " the first reggaeton tracks.

It's the Latin culture, all latinos have the same passion for rithm. I'm Dominican and love all latin music and play all rithms in my percussion instruments, we are the seasoning or the spice of life ViVa LATINOS,
We all descendent from the same common ground.  Just be good to each other. Peace!

the DOMINICAN MERENGUE
was played with string instruments.
Requinto /tres (latin guitar) Years later, the string instruments were replaced by the Accordion, thus conforming, together with the güira and the Tambora, the instrumental structure of the typical Merengue ensemble.
This ensemble, with its three instruments,
represents the synthesis of the three cultures that made up the idiosyncrasy of
🇩🇴DOMINICAN CULTURE .
The European influence
Spanish guitar / berlin Accordion.
the AFRICAN Influence
 Dominican tambora (drum).
The TAINO aboriginal Influence
güira.
