I like that they put a fresh spin on the War Thunder mech event. This is giving me much more Steel Battalion vibes and I approve

Respawn: not making titanfall 3
Gaijin: Fine, I'll do it myself.

My granpa did mention this portion of the second world war where German mechs and American mechs clashed in the battle of the bulge. The so called "Pilots" were chosen and trained to be part of this armored unit and proved to be effective in urban terrain.

During World War II, several countries explored the use of mechanized walking robots in combat. These robots were designed to traverse difficult terrain and carry heavy loads, making them ideal for military operations. Here are some examples of the walking robots developed during this time:

The German "Goliath" was a remote-controlled, tracked robot that was designed to destroy enemy fortifications, such as bunkers or bridges. The first prototype was developed in 1940, and by 1944, over 7, 000 Goliaths had been produced. The Goliath weighed around 250 kg and was equipped with either 60 or 100 kg of explosives, depending on the model. It could reach a top speed of around 26 km/h and was controlled remotely via a joystick.

The Japanese "Karakuri" was a much larger and more complex walking robot that was manned by a pilot who sat inside the torso of the machine. The first prototype was developed in 1939, but only a few were ever built due to the high cost and complexity of the design. The Karakuri was around 3.7 meters tall and weighed approximately 5 tons. It was armed with a 37mm anti-tank gun and several machine guns, and could carry up to 3 additional soldiers. The Karakuri could reach a top speed of around 47 km/h.

The United States also experimented with walking robots during World War II, but their efforts were largely focused on developing robots for carrying supplies rather than for combat. One such robot was the "General Electric Walking Truck, " which was capable of carrying up to half a ton of supplies and could reach a top speed of around 35 km/h. The Walking Truck was first developed in 1938, and several prototypes were produced throughout the war.

Despite the potential for these walking robots in combat, their use was ultimately limited due to the technological capabilities of the time and the high cost of development. However, the research and development of robotic technology during World War II paved the way for further advancements in the field.

Well this is funny. War Thunder's event got infantry while the Enlisted event has vehicles more closer to tanks.
