Elisa Quintana and Thomas Barclay are both research scientists at the SETI Institute at NASA’s Ames Research Center and the astronomers who discovered the planet.

If this planet is millions of light years away, how can we be sure it even exists anymore let alone has the same composition that we see in it now?

Fascinating, if only i could live long enough to see humanity colonize other planets(which is probably thousands of years from now). or even discover how to rip space fabric that would be awesome..

Do astronomers go with the assumption that any lifeforms would be carbon-based, going off that mention of biomarkers for element composition?
