I remember catching reruns of this as a kid randomly and being so confused at where the original cast went lol 😂

I met Barry Van Dyke a few years ago. His son is an artist and had a booth at a farmers market. He is such a nice guy. He sat and talked to me for nearly a 1/2 hour. He told me that the network at one point during season 3 I think he said we’re planning to bring him on to replace JMV because he was becoming belligerent on set due to substance abuse. However they wrapped with JMV, and when the show went to Canada for season 4, Barry was their number 1 choice as St. John Hawk. I didn’t hate season 4, it just didn’t feel the same as the original.

I dont blame the actors in this at all. Barry, geraint, michelle, and anthony were all talented. Its the cheap video toaster effects, overuse of stock footage and crap writing is what killed this. And yes without jan and ernest, there was no soul in it.

I didn’t know about season 4, but watched it anyway and it introduced me to another member of the Van Dyke family!

In the UK it was titled “Airwolf II” in TV listings to separate it from the original production. I watched the first episode; that was enough.

Seemingly with the low budget they had on the fourth season they had no access to the original helicopter and had to use a lot of unused shots from the other seasons just didnt work out at all
