I love my Concept2 rower, I inherited mine. I think I am _cheek_ adapted - been doing 120 minutes rows on Sundays and the hard seat is fine. 😜 Conceot2 has an app with virtual track and many competitions, as well and a holder for devices. Mine is over 15 years old, works great and still really easy to get any parts. I've also noticed data wise, the numbers from Concept2 seem a whole closer than anything from my Apple watch. I think maybe Concept2, despite in use by so many in so many ways is still made specifically for rowers. The other looks better for general use. My first love is my kayak, so the rower, still very different than paddling, tides me over in the off season.

I just got the Merach r50 today and put 30 mins on it. It feels exactly the same as the concept 2. I love it!

I have a question. I read in some reviews that the intensity levels on the R50 are quite weak from 1-10. Is that really true? According to the manufacturer, it should have a peak resistance of 50 kg. Is that really too low?
I already tested a Merach with magnetic resistance at a colleague's, and it was a disaster. Resistance levels of 1-16, and you hardly feel anything at the highest level.

I just got the merach for my home gym and I gotta say that it feels just like the C2, I agree with you as far as the seat and straps are way better, I guess for me it came down to budget, can’t go wrong with either option.

How does the Merach compare to Concept2 in terms of calculating calories and distance? If you rowed at the same pace or intensity on both machines, will it result in comparable calories or distance?

Does it also determine and display the "drag factor" which would allow for standardizing between machines or even between it and the C2?

is the power supply/cable for the monitors the same? like if i buy an aftermarket concept 2 monitor can i just plug it into the merach?

I really wish i had the room at my house for more things to help exercise. Funny that you were showing us rowing machines, i was looking at a second hand one from the 80's this week. I already have the concept2 rower for quite a few years now, and I did buy that add on seat pad for it. Curious if you can buy the other seat and add it to the concept2 since they look to be exactly replicas.

You can pick up a used Concept2 Model D (often barely used) on marketplace for $700 (or less) any day of the week. They are indestructible. You will have a much better rower and monitor for the price. If you don't like it you'll be able to sell it for the same price. If you don't like the Merachi I expect resale will be less than 50% of retail.

Cheap Chinese knock off. Concept 2 should sue. The Velcro strap won’t last and has a buckle that’s going to dig into the top of your foot. A soft seat feels good at first just like a soft mattress but after while they’re uncomfortable.
