Cats have feelings, you just have to gain their trust and respect their boundaries. Do not overstep their boundaries, do not force affection on a cat, if they want affection they would come to you first. When interacting with a cat is best to try and stay calm around them and make sure you are petting them the right way, make sure the pets are gentle and pet in their direction of their fur, and when you pet them be sure to closely observe their body language for signs of comfort or discomfort. And if they try setting boundaries with you then just take it with a grain of salt, and don’t see them as mean, rude, selfish, and ungrateful just because they just don’t wanna be bothered at that moment. Every animal has their boundaries and we should understand and respect their boundaries rather they are our pet or not.
