A Mustang that went to Oxford is a great description! It's a beast with refinement. Part muscle car and part je ne sais quoi. Absolutely a great machine to drive.

Great story. Lovely car! I totally relate to Peter's long term love affair with his Aston.

Old Aston Martins like these are truly amazing cars. Once you get them 'sorted', they are an absolute pleasure to drive and own. And, surprisingly, quite reliable. Two years ago my daughter and I took my '76 Aston V8 on a 3, 500-mile road trip through 4 states and 2 Canadian provinces, traversing Glacier National Park (Going-to-the-Sun Road), the Beartooth Pass, Yellowstone and the Cascades. It was an incredible drive, in a car that's 40 years old, and we had no problems at all. I hope to do another drive like that with my younger daughter in a few more years!

to those commenting on the "Mustang" looks - if you get a chance to see them side-by-side (spoiler: unlikely) the Aston Martin V8 looks brutal even when standing still. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome car. I had a 1959 DB4 and loved it. Drove it all over.

Great Video Peter, lovely car, thx for sharing. Like you we've owned our 1976 AMV8 for 40 plus odd years. I had ours out yesterday for the first time in two years. What a rush, I fell in love all over again. I had been tempted to trade it in on a 2007 DBS a few years back I'm so glad I didn't? Keep in touch old friend. One of these days we'll get you out to the west coast in the car?? dk

There can't be too many of these in Ontario. What a beautiful car. I wish I'd bought one when they were cheaper.

I fell in love with this car after seeing "the living daylights" as a kid - mind you I love a Porsche 911 or 944 but at 44 years old now, I'd gladly take one if I could find one reasonable (yah good luck in California LOL)

Her exhaust note seems somewhat akin to that of Ford's Cleveland 351-V8, powered the 2nd-generation Mustang Mach 1(1971-73). Lovely sound.

consider Aston Martin work service suspension upgrade. This may deal with the weight of the car better and not change any of his outward character, but improve the driving experience, especially with body roll .rollbar, stiffer suspension etc.

how is service on this car, did you have to rebuild the engine yet?

Wow, he had a beer with the man who built the engine in his car. Not gonna happen with my 17 year old Citroen Picasso!.

I travel from Sudbury to Toronto a lot, he lives near Toronto I suppose. I recognize a lot of the farms in this clip (I know, how can anyone tell one farm from another? In Ontario you can)

I'm watching this video in 2024: I guess mr. and mrs Schurmann still own this jewel on wheels?

That car will even survive EMP from the shockwave of a nuke.

I hope Fred Waters did the same good job on my engine.

Realistically when you look at the body shape of the Aston Martin V8, it very much appears to be based up on the looks of a 1967 Ford Mustang. Very much so. Obviously this Aston Martin is by far the more luxury version of the 1967 Ford Mustang, it's probably called the Gentleman's Ford Mustang. Please don't get me wrong here, I couldn't agree with you more about the choice you'd make to actually own one of these V8 Aston's, just as I like the 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500; a true Detroit steel workers kind of car where as the Aston is the more sophisticated Gentleman's GT. Nevertheless these both beautiful cars must be related to each other.
