All Enemy Types in Helldivers 2 & How to Counter Them

Helldivers 2 (stylised as Helldivers II) is a third-person shooter developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is the sequel to Helldivers, a 2015 top-down shooter. It was released for PlayStation 5 and Windows on 8 February 2024. It received positive reviews from critics and sold approximately one million units in the first three days since release.

Unlike Helldivers, which is a top-down shooter, Helldivers 2 is a third-person shooter. Similar to the first game, players are able to select Stratagems, which are air drops players can call, which include cluster bombs, sentry guns, shield generators or supply pods containing limited-use special weaponry. Friendly fire is always on. The game's armor system is inspired by real firearms fired against armored targets. There is multiplayer with up to four players.[1] It also provides a cross-play feature between PlayStation 5 and Windows players. In the initial days of the release, gameplay involved human observers at the studio influencing gameplay in real time.

The issue with berserkers isn't that they're harder to kill than their medium-armored friends, it's that they show up in massive groups.

Bile Spewers also have a nasty behavior on higher difficulties where they plant their head into the ground and raise their abdomen to become mortar launchers.

Side note for Chargers: Their charge attack can also destroy nests. Useful if you lack explosives :)

Side note for stalkers! They can’t be targeted by automated weapons. At least while invisible. Not sure what the extent is but ive noticed guard dogs, turrets, etc not targeting them

Side note for the rail gun: you can hit weak spots even if they're not directly exposed. for example, the turret towers and tank weak spots can be hit from the front if you line up the shot

I would say it's MUCH more important to make sure Brood Commanders don't call a bug breach on higher difficulties, because if they are the ones who call a bug breach on those difficulties, it's almost guaranteed that a Bile Titan is coming out. The smaller bugs can't summon a Titan

The hulk is literally a space marine dreadnought

Dropships: if you shoot the thrusters with a Recoilless, you can down a drop ship in a single shot.

Chargers hate lasers. If you hit them with a laser, even doing no damage, they will change targets to you. You can use this to tank them and postion them so your squad can take them out easily.

2:55 imagine being that civilian. A Helldiver calls you out to get to safety and the first thing is a hulk looking straight at you.

For Hulks: One nearly fully charged shot from a railgun directly to the faceplate will kill them instantly.
For Tanks: 2 impact grenades to the turret, especially the vents, is usually enough to destroy them

Remember your ABCs guys, "Always be Taking Cover." because there's nothing like lining up a shot on the head of a hulk just for one stray laser to hit you causing a flinch right before you fire and miss causing a premature death!

Large Terminids are fueled by adrenaline, so they can move for some time after they are dead. Charger also follows this, when you pop their butt, they are already dead. Leave them alone for a bit and they would drop dead. Bile Titan also do this.

The dangerous one is actually Bile Spewer because the bastard likes to play dead and jump you when unexpected. Pay attention to the one you “kill” and you will often see this on top of the “dead body” that lies in wait.

For any divers just starting out without squads, my main recommendations are:
Get expendable anti-tank launcher if you're gonna be fighting bots. You can call down a pod with two every minute and on like solo medium difficulty, they oneshot basically all armored bots you run across. Also the Redeemer (the secondary auto-pistol) is good for panic-dealing with berserkers, you can be running away from a couple, don't use aim down sights, just hipfire at the berserker, if you dump your whole mag it goes down basically every time.
For bugs, get Stalwart, the LMG that you can reload while moving. It REALLY helps.

One very annoying thing about Commissars: They are FAST. I believe they are near to or equal to you when you're in Light Armour, though they do have to be in a full sprint so the only form of defence they have is evasion - they cannot shoot back for as long as they are sprinting, and one single glowing blade that is waving around is pretty easy to spot. One thing I've noticed that they do, they either immediately call in a dropship as soon as the firefight starts, or they run as close to you as they can THEN call it in, so the dropship will show up right above you and drop enemies on top of you.

6:54 as a note Berserkers are not a ZERO threat with no chainsaw, they in fact have a very short range stomp attack that WILL kill you almost as easily as their chainsaws, DO NOT let them get close at all.

I look forward when the armor system actually gets fixed so then depending on your armor type actually affects on how much damage you take

Side note for striders, hit a impact grenade in between legs sends the pilot into orbit.

Devastators are also more vulnerable below the chest. If the head isn't accessible, the waist and below is a good target.
