How To Import Fonts Into Procreate

Learning how to use procreate can be really difficult if you have never drawn digitally before. Hopefully this series can be helpful to those who are trying to learn procreate. Procreate has been super useful to tattoo artists, graphic designers, animators, and other creative professionals.

when I open the unzip I can’t import it to procreate it doesn’t show that app even if I have it downloaded

It’s much easier to just go to the download icon in the upper right corner of safari, after the download, click on that recent downloaded font, it’ll unzip or sometimes already be unzipped, and chose the .TTF, then use the import arrow icon and chose Procreate. Keep in mind some fonts you won’t see right away in any upload route you take as you need to restart Procreate or any other Art platform you are using.

The other route in Procreate, select the layer you put the text box in, click anywhere on the canvas, a pop up will show “text layer selected” it’ll ask you some options, select “edit text”. from here, just click anywhere on canvas again, click on the default font on left side, and it’ll show you a ton of options including “import font”. All you have to do is select the downloaded font. If it’s not unzipped that’s what apples “files” app is for. To unzip open Files app and press downloaded font, it’ll unzip to .TTF OR .OFT. Then you can finish import into Procreate.

I would always recommend after downloading font, open Files, click the zipped font to unzip automatically, then go into Procreate to import. No need to use any other apps. Just remember to close and open Procreate because it needs to refresh font sometimes.

I too went to school for graphic design (and dropped out lol) Never thought I'd need my knowledge of typefaces outside of that, but here we are.

Question, do you only use the fonts that are 100% free or also the free for personal use ones? I have no idea if tattoos count as commercial use. I'd say probably not...

I tried doing this on safari and google chrome app on my ipad but whenever i press download i dont get that little tab at the bottom which allows u to open in the un ip me app😞
