You don't have to create a Responsive Search Ad if you select the "Phone calls" goal option initially. It will allow you to create a "Call ad" right there.

Super helpful, thank you! The other bit I'm running into when setting up Call Only ads is that the name of the business has to match the web domain or the ad-verified business name, with no variation.

Good content, In my opinion its good to have two different campaigns for two ads Responsive search ads with call extension in one campaign and Call ads in different campaign - compare 14days and 21days results. Amoung 8-10 ad accounts. I found RSA campaign beats the call only ads.

I followed step by step, and I created an identical second call ad in my ad group. It didn’t give me a selection like in your video, it just made by default the new ad a call ad. I don’t really understand why this has to be done but I did it. Is it because the first call ad that you create is defaulted to a responsive search ad? Even though you are setting up the ad campaign to be call leads driven? So then you have to go and create a call ad after that initial ad is created to override the default of your initial ad setup? Do I leave both ads running in my ad group or should I pause the 1st ad? Also when I created the second call ad Google gave me some sort of notification that I also saw on your screen, about pausing ad group due to similar segment removal. I am guessing if I saw this it is normal and I probably did it correctly? Anyways thank you for the helpful tutorial. I hope this works!!

Based on your experience what is the "click" vs "actual call" ratio? Because (at least on Android), when the user clicks the phone number, it then launches the phone keypad. Is it something like 3 clicks to an actual call?

You don't need to make responsive ad during campaign creation. You can simply delete it during the campaign Setup

keep getting ads disapproved "innacurate business name" when in fact we're using the accurate business name in the business name description field. Google ads is broken and support is terrible. Any advice?
