My favorite part is the very last set of "I don't need you, " she sings it with a cadence that's casual and doesn't match the guys cadence. Then the guy sings it again with a drawn out "need" you, and then Allie matches his cadence with the drawn out "need, " it's almost like she's resisting, and then gives in and surrenders. It's so beautiful.

"hey. where'd you go? we used to be friends, we used to be close." oh. my. god. my heart just fell out of my chest from the first note. The feeling in this song hits too close to home.

Even though its been like 4 years since we truly talked and 10 years since we became friends there used to be this guy in high school that I regarded as my first love and best friend. We were never more than friends but we were so close (or so I thought) and it breaks my heart he's not in my life anymore. He just completely disappeared with no evidence that he was ever close to me except for the number in my cell phone. I say that I'm over him and that I don't care about him but in this dark time I've been going through lately all I do is sit back and wish he was beside me helping me through this.

He's married now and all I can do is see his life through bits and pieces on social media. I'm trying so hard to let him go, especially now that he's found a new life and someone better suited to share it with him, but I just can't get over the fact that he just kind of disappeared from my life a few years after high school without a word to me. Even if I couldn't love him in the way i wanted, his friendship meant the world to me and he just took that all away :( Thank you Allie for helping me let go of some of that pain with this song, it's beautiful. x
