On service calls i only have my impact in my bag. I use it to drill regularly. Goes through 2x4s just fine. I inch no problem. A few holes no biggie. If i have alot of drilling to do then i take out my drill

You mean to tell me a bunch of people who probably don't even own either tools are incorrect about their usage?

Impact drivers are the special force operators of the drill world.

I used to work assembly. They kept giving us Dewalt drills and impacts. After 3 drills died in a year, I bought that same Milwaukee impact and used it as both drill and impact. Drilling steel felt better and didn't try to yank my arm every time it kicked. It especially helped with self tapping screws. Saved money and my wrist.

My Milwaukee m12 impact is all I ever need. It’s an absolute workhorse. So much so that my makita 18Vs are having the sleeping beauty treatment.
With the combi only seeing the light of day when I need to do big holes

For this time i agree with you Vince.
I use my impact driver to alumunium working ( Hollow 1mm ) Best for make 1-4mm holes. More faster, finish faster, more time you make money

My response to these kind of people: 'does your bf only drill you one way? 🧐’

I’ve used my little m18 impact for just about everything and it works great for basically anything the only thing I will pull the drill out for is if I have to drill into cabinets since the impact will tear it up a little bit more (I know a simple piece of masking tape could solve the issue but most of the time I dont have any with me)

As a plumbing its obvious impact is the winner. Always crooked or kinked in some weird uncomfortable position, holding wires, ducts or insulation on your back or stomach while trying to drill a hole or fasten. Always impact

I use my impact driver when ever I can. I love my yellow beast.

Hope that means that an impact driver will do well for my paralyzed dad who only has one working arm (In MOST situations for him, not all) lmk if I’m completely wrong about this

In my line of work I’ve burned out 2 drills and then switched to impact. I’ve been over 2 years and havent had any issues since I changed!

I agree with the people that say its wrong. I feel like using a impact with a spade but is equal to driving something like a large shank lag. Its only a 1/4" hex head and i feel its drastically hard on the tool. I only resort to them in situations where a regular drill will not fit

In my experience, mk3 impact driver have a lot of anvil socket worn, after one year of intense drilling in wood or by self drilling screws. Now i use drill to do that.

It’s not that you can’t do it or it isn’t going to work - the tool isn’t designed for that task.

Drills even work better on long fasteners
