I was in Venice in '76 and they were worried about it sinking then. I can still feel the place.
Amazing chalk on the sidewalk art. Locals jumping off the bridges. An old world glass blowing "factory" with true artisans.

I'm guessing you found this out already, but there are 3 "public" gondola rides (unmarked) which you can take to cross the large canal. they are intended for locals but if you find the guides and navigate to the remote areas where they are located you can ride for super cheap. I think it is only like 2 euros. they are group rides for whoever wants to cross and don't go down the small canals or under bridges

Dude those pasta to go places are the worst. The city is trying to outlaw them because they clutter the streets with cheap tourists and generate so much litter. Eating on the ground outside is illegal in Venice. You can’t “do Venice in 12 hours”, it’s day trippers like you that are killing that poor city.
