Ed is expressing his love of being #844s engineer he is one of the best engineers on the UP system he knows #844 from smoke box to tender and takes good care of her as he would a horse (an Iron Horse)

I thought so too, apparently not. Some of the steam crew member's came out here to visit 4014 a few year's ago and they got permission to take 4014's whistle for use on 844 and 3985.

The MARS Light was taken off in Council Bluff UP is going to donate it to the museum

looks like the old girl will get a face transplant as Ed said #844's smoke box door which is her face has to be replaced because it is full of rust and looks like her pistons and domes have to be replaced also. the whistle was replaced last year and belonged to the Big Boy in Cody Park.

actually 844's current whistle is off of the big boy that is in California, which is also the same big boy Union Pacific is trying to aqcuire for restoration. and the engine in Cody Park is actually a challenger, 3977 is not a big boy.

the first rule on UP is Safety First painted on the ground is SNA which stands for STAND NOTE ADJUST Ed does not want anyone to get hurt at Steam Shop or OSHA will be knocking on their door

I thought they took 4004's whistle seeing as how it's right there in Chyenne?
