At first I was like, "duhhh, what else would you do", but when you ran it at full speed I realized I always try to grab it off the boards under control and usually fumble it. Just knocking it out ahead of you seems like it would be so much easier, you just pick it up in open ice on the move!

It also helps to stutter step in one direction and taking off in the other. Keeps anyone coming at you guessing where your going along the boards.

Seems so simple and innocuous but man, in the heat of a game, can it ever be painful and embarrassing haha

You should do one that details the far harder, pull it off the boards on the hard-around. Is that the Pru in the background?

The puck is rarely just sitting there though. Most of the time the puck is moving up the boards. I always fumble it or overskate it

If you are perpendicular to boards, and there is a guy behind you, a defender coming up the left side of board, and another on the right side. How do you approach?

When looking around how close is too close a defender is basically forcing you just chip the puck to another part of the rink?

I am once again hating life in Missouri because I will never have the pleasure of just being able to walk down the street to my well maintained sheet of public ice and skate for free, for hours, on an actual ice rink.

I guess that's not entirely true. I could technically have it happen, and it would last for a day or two.
